CPI and women from self help group petition to Buffalo to signify inaction of Tirupur district administration

Tirupur: CPI and affected women submitted a petition to a buffalo in protest after inaction by Tirupur District Collector.

Tirupur: Members of Communist Party of India (CPI) and women from several localities belonging to Tirupur district expressed their disappointment over alleged inaction by the District Administration of Tirupur in addressing the petitions filed against micro finance companies who force women on repayment of loans.

According to the petitioners, "In the past three months, CPI and women belonging to various Self-Help Groups (SHG) have reportedly submitted over 20 petitions to the District Collector complaining of microfinance companies forcing SHG women in Tirupur to pay their dues, despite the RBI norm of moratorium for six months."

They accused that staff from microfinance company often throng their homes and cause embarrassment and also abuse over repeated phone calls forcing to repay loan dues.

Alleging inaction by the Tirupur District administration, the protestors agitated in the Veerapandi area in Tirupur and mocked by submitting a petition in front of a buffalo to signify inaction of the Tirupur administration in resolving their issues.
