They also demanded that a special law must be passed against caste-based honour killings.
Protests were held in the Gopalapuram area in Coimbatore. They charged that the state government had not presented the case satisfactorily at the court and that it was shocking that the prime accused in the case had been let off .
With honour killings on the rise this verdict will only encourage more such cases and the state government should therefore appeal against this in the Supreme Court and must also pass special law against honour killing, insisted the Dravida Tamizhar Katchi President Venmani.
