Across the state, the Food and Safety officials have issued special protocols to all food outlets, to ensure safety of the customers and sale of hygienically prepared food.

While, kitchens had to be maintained hygienically and thoroughly disinfected thrice a day, the FSSAI officials on Tuesday landed up here in the kitchen of a bakery named 'Coimbatore Cafe' located on Masakalipalayam road near Hopes College, which flouted hygiene standards and sold expired products.
According to reports, Balaji from the Masakalipalayam area had bought a bread packet last week at Coimbatore Cafe. When he opened the bread packet at his home, he was shocked to find fungus spread on the bread which had led to its spoilage.
Following this, Balaji informed the issue to Logu, Secretary of Consumer Voice Coimbatore. Later, they escalated the complaint to Tamil Selvan, District Food Safety Officer.
Acting upon the complaint, the FSSAI officials held a surprise inspection at the bakery, on Tuesday. During the raid, they found that several loaves of bread kept for sale in the bakery had expired. They also noticed that the kitchens were unhygienic and the employees were not wearing gloves and face masks.
The officers confiscated the stale bread and issued a notice to the bakery.
