Coimbatore: Not responding to treatment, the ailing Elephant at Anaikatti which was being treated, passed away on Monday.

According to information by the forest department, veterinarian Dr. Sugumar treated the 12-year-old elephant which was spotted with greivous injuries in its mouth. While antibiotics and anti-flammtory drugs were administered through fruits, 25 bottles of IV fluids were administered to the ailing elephant which initially showed signs of recovery, later passed away.

Diagnosis revealed that the elephant had a bad injury around its tooth after a bamboo stick poked, possible ten days back. Inflammation and pus formation all around the area, has made it difficult for the animal to consume any chewable foodm.
