Coimbatore: The DYFI in association with the Government Hospital conducted a blood donation camp that was inaugurated by MP P.R. Natarajan.

The COVID-19 lockdown is still in place in the state with a few relaxations. With this being the case, the need for blood at the Coimbatore Government hospital blood bank for treatment of patients involved in accidents and for other medical reasons has been increasing. Due to the lockdown the blood supply at the blood bank needs to be replenished and the DYFI has been conducting blood donation camps at various areas, continuously. Many youngsters participated in these camps and donated blood.

As part of this drive, a blood donation camp was conducted on behalf of the DYFI East and Singanallur city council on Sunday. The camp was held at the Puliakulam St.Anthony's Church marriage hall. It was presided by the DYFI East District coordinator Siva and inaugurated by MP P.R. Natarajan.

Speaking during the inauguration of the camp, he said, "The DYFI works for the welfare of youth all over the country and they have made a mark by conducting these blood donation camps. They have received many awards and accolades for this, from the government. Conducting such camps during the times of a disaster like the pandemic is very essential, as people do not go out so frequently but donating blood is essential now. Understanding the importance of this the DYFI have conducted four camps in the last three months. In each camp, more than a hundred youngsters have participated and donated blood. This life saving task has to continue. All organisations that care for the welfare of the people must hold such camps", he requested.

The blood donated at the camp was collected by the blood bank team from the Coimbatore Government Hospital.
