Tirupur: Rental car drivers in Tirupur submitted a petition to the Tirupur District Collector about the Coimbatore police demanding E-pass for vehicles from Tirupur even though travel within the Coimbatore Zone has now been made free.
With the COVID-19 lockdown in place with some relaxations, transport within the Coimbatore zone was made free of E-pass as announced by the State government.
However, when vehicles from Tirupur pass through the Chinniampalayam check post towards Coimbatore, the police demand that E-pass should be provided. The drivers allege that those without E-passes were treated in a derogatory manner and were sent back.
The Tirupur District Rental car drivers brought this issue to the notice of the District Collector of Tirupur and insisted that he issues a clear notice regarding this.
