In a responsible move owing to the rapid spread of COVID-19, Federation of Traders' Associations has decided to keep shops open in Coimbatore from 7 AM to 5 PM.
Coimbatore: In a responsible move owing to the rapid spread of COVID-19, a group of Traders' associations have decided to keep shops open in Coimbatore from 7 AM to 5 PM.
Speaking about this decision a member of the association said, "Next to Chennai, Coimbatore is the place where the spread of COVID-19 has been increasing rapidly. Keeping the welfare of the shop employees and customers in mind, this decision has been taken.
Places like Big Bazaar street, Range Gounder Street, Thomas street, Vysial Street and Thermutti, where crowds are usually high, consist of more than 5,000 shops. All of them will function only during the stipulated time."
He also informed that, "A total of seven associations such as Coimbatore Grocery Traders' Association, Tamil Nadu Traders Federation (Big Bazaar street Branch), Consumer Products Distributors' Association, Edible Oil Dealers' Association, TK Market Merchants' Association, Jaggery Traders' Association and District Plastic Vendors' Association have collectively taken this decision.
Talks are underway to follow the same timing for branches of the shops in other areas."
