A team of health officials led by the Municipal Commissioner Saraswathi inspected all the vehicles entering Ooty. The vehicle drivers were asked to provide proof of their local address and were enquired if they had any symptoms of COVID-19 and were allowed to enter thereafter.
As the spread of COVID-19 has become rampant, cases are being filed by the police against persons who are out on the streetswithout any valid reason while the lockdown is still in place.
Meanwhile cases are being filed by the Nilgiris Police department against tourists trying to enter the district via Kunjappanai, Burliar, Kakkanalla, and Mulli check posts.
To keep a check on this, the Nilgiris District Administration has intensified vehicle checks.
