Microfinance Companies in the Murugampalayam area within the Tirupur Corporation and Rakkipalayam of Avinashihad allegedly demanded payment of loan installments from women's self-help groups in the area. In spite of the SOP's to not demand payments for six months due to the COVID-19 lockdown, they have been demanding the installment payment.
The microfinance companies have also been issuing threatsto the members of the women's self-help groups. The affected women along with the CPIM laid siege to the District Collectorate and submitted a petition at the Collectorate.
