Coimbatore: Poo Market in Coimbatore has been isolated to curb the spread of COVID-19. Despite an alarming increase in the number of Coronavirus positive cases in the city and the district over the past few days, people continue to throng the markets in the city.
The flower market is located on the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam road. Home to more than 100 shops, the place teems with vendors and customers. The market does a lot of imports and exports on a daily basis.
Owing to the uncontrollable crowds, the administration has decided to seal the area and cordon it off. Only a very limited crowd would be allowed inside the market moving forward, sources said.
It is to be noted that, earlier, the District Collector warned people against crowding meat shops, fish markets, flower markets, vegetable markets and grocery stores. He said if the public continues to overlook this, then the administration will have to consider close shops and markets down.
