The order to change 'Koyampuththoor' withdrawn. New order to be released in 2-3 days.

In a sigh of relief for the millions of denizens of Coimbatore and Vellore, the Minister has announced that the order is withdrawn and a new order with a reworked transliteration standard will be issued in 2-3 days time.

Chennai: In a significant tweet, the Minister for Tamil, Art, Culture and Museums, K Pandiarajan, has announced the withdrawal of the order to change 1018 names in Tamilnadu with Tamil phonetic styled spellings.

The transliteration standard followed had weird spellings for cities like Coimbatore (Koyampuththoor) and Vellore (Veeloor). This had drawn considerable backlash in these cities as citizens took up to social media to register their displeasure.

In a sigh of relief for the millions of denizens of Coimbatore and Vellore, the Minister has announced that the order is withdrawn and a new order with a reworked transliteration standard will be issued in 2-3 days time.
