Coimbatore: The RG Pudur area In Coimbatore has been declared an isolation zone and has been cordoned off due to the death of a man who was tested positive for COVID-19.
The spread of COVID-19 has been increasing rapidly, day by day in the state. A new lockdown has been announced for four districts in the state. The population of people entering into Coimbatore from highly affected places like Delhi and Chennai has also been increasing everyday. As a result of this, the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the district has been on the rise for the past few days.
A 28-year-old man who arrived from Chennai to the Ramar Kovil Street in RG Pudur of Chinniampalayam, Coimbatoretested positive for the disease on June 14. Following this, he was admitted at Coimbatore ESI hospital for treatment. However, he failed to respond to treatment and died.
Following this, six of his close contacts tested positive for the disease the day before yesterday and 10 more tested positive for the disease yesterday. In to, 17 people including the deceased man have been affected in the area.
As a result of this, the area has been declared an isolation zone and disinfectants have been sprayed in the area. The area has also been cordoned off. All the neighbouring houses are also being tested for COVID-19. The residents of the area have requested the government to undertake extensive testing in the area.
