A lone Indian Gaur that roamed in the residential areas of Coonoor scared the residents into remaining indoors.

The Nilgiris: A lone Indian Gaur that roamed in the residential areas of Coonoor scared people into remaining indoors.

Parasuram Street near the Coonoor Bus stand in Nilgiris is not close to any forests or gardens, but a lone Indian Gaur was spotted roaming on TTK road, Parasuraman Street and Krishnapuram and then went on to the Vannarapettai road.

Residents of the area who spotted the Indian gaur panicked and rushed into their houses. They breathed a sigh of relief only after the Indian Gaur left the place.

This movement of the Indian Gaur in the midst of residential areas not very close to the forests has caused fear in the minds of the people. They have therefore requested the Forest department to catch the animal and send it into a densely wooded area.
