The family of an astrologer, who travelled to Malaysia for a religious tour, has requested the aid of the government to help him travel back to India.
Tirupur: The family of an astrologer, who travelled to Malaysia for a religious tour, has requested the aid of the government to help him travel back to India.
Thangavel, an astrologer from the Madathukulam area in Tirupur travelled to Malaysia on March 12 for a religious tour. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, he has not been able to travel back to India until now.
Thangavel's family said that initially he had been in regular contact with them, but it has been a month since his visa expired and a month and a half since he contacted themly. They further said that he had last spoken to them on May 3 and had informed them that the Malaysian Immigration Officials were taking him for an enquiry.
From that point in time, there has been no contact with him, they alleged and requested for some action to be taken as they suspect that something is amiss. They requested the government to take action to bring him back to India.
Thangavel's wife Vijaya and her children submitted a petition to the Tirupur District Collectorate requesting for help from the government.
