Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker Dhanabal inaugurates water station construction in Annur for Avinashi Athikadavu project
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker Dhanabal inaugurated water station construction for Avinashi Athikadavu project in Annur.
The Government of Tamil Nadu launched the Avinashi Athikadavu project in 2019 to improve agriculture by filling the ponds and water tanks of Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts.
Pipes from the Kalingarayan canal to Annur will take 1.5 TMC of water per annum to fill the ponds and lakes. As part of the ongoing work on this project, the inauguration for the construction of a hydropower station for the Avinashi Athikadavu project in the Annur area under the project was held today at Kunnathurampalayam village.
TN assembly speaker and Avinashi MLA Dhanabal inaugurated construction. The launch of the Avinashi Athikadavu project is a longtime dream of the people of Annur. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the ceremony was held in a simple manner by following social distancing.
It is to be noted that 258 ponds in the Coimbatore area alone will bebenefited when this project is implemented.
