Coimbatore: The Minister for Health and Family Welfare C. Vijayabhaskar has lauded the efforts of the Coimbatore ESI Hospital Dean Dr. A. Nirmala and her staff.

In a note sent to the Dean the Minister wrote, " Ever since the declaration of COVID-19 as World Health Emergency, you and your team members - Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, Multipurpose Hospital workers etc.- have been in the forefront of the fight against Covid-19."

He further appreciated their hard work and perseverance, and noted that he was happy to share that several measures initiated by the Chief Minister had helped to contain the death rate at 0.8% in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, he noted that the discharge rate in the State is also very high, owing to the strenuous efforts of the dean and the medical team day-in and day-out.

"As most of the treating Doctors, Nurses etc. are quarantined as per the existing guidelines, they could not even meet their family members for several days. The Government is fully aware of the hardships faced by the frontline warriors. Moreover, the Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister has also initiated several steps for augmenting the manpower requirement to ease the pressure on the present teams", he noted.

At this crucial juncture, he took the opportunity to thank each one of the medical staff for their dedication and hard work, at the cost of their lives, which he assured will be duly acknowledged by the Government at the appropriate time.

Finally he appreciated their contribution and said that their work had earned a good name not only to themselves but also to the Government as a whole. "I salute your untiring co-operation and dedication", he signed.
