Protesting at the Tirupur Arisi Kadai Street, the CPIM demanded relief funds be provided to the workers, who have been affected by the extended COVID-19 lockdown, by both the Central and the State governments.
Further, they made demands to protect the interests of the labourers, which included protecting people from finance companies that demand monthly installments and streamlining TNEB's calculation of electricity charges.
The protests were led by the CPIM's former MLA Thangavel.
