A gaur that fell into a well at the Appleby area in Coonoor was rescued after five hours of struggle by the fire department and the forest department workers.

A gaur fell into an open well at Suri Bungalow in the Apple by area, Coonoor. Hearing the bellows made by the gaur, residents nearby informed the fire and forest departments. The police department also rushed to the scene.
After 5 hours and 40 minutes of struggle, the gaur was hoisted from the well.
In the cumbersome rescue process, the rings of the well were cut off one by one and sand mounds were made around the well.
With the help of a JCB vehicle, the gaur was then lifted out of the well.
The gaur appeared to be tired and was sprayed with water on its body. Following this, the gaur was shooed away into a dense forest area. The rescue operations were carried out by Fire Station officer Mohan, fire fighters Murali, Kannan and many others.
