Tirupur: The total of COVID cases in Tirupur district increased to 117 on Monday, after one new case has been reported today.
According to a report, the 22-year-old nursing student working at the ANC ward in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital who tested positive on June 8 and added to Tirupur's list has been removed from Tirupur count. Now, the patient has been cross-notified to Coimbatore district's list, as it was a hospital acquired infection, informed K Vijayakarthikeyan, Tirupur District Collector.
The new case added today is an 81-year-old male who has been living in Chennai for the past 4 years. He reportedly returned to Tirupur District on June 12.
The patient self-reported his travel history and was subjected to COVID testing on the same day of his arrival. After he tested positive, his contacts are being traced and samples are taken. The patient is now stable and is being treated in ESI, Coimbatore.
"The total number of people in house quarantine Tirupur erstwhile is 1143 while 92 were newly added to the list today and 79 have completed their 14-day quarantine period," told the Collector.
