Tirupur women alleging intimidation by microfinance companies protested by posing to hang themselves
Tirupur: Affected women protested against microfinance companies by posing to hang themselves in front of the District Collectorate. New Micro Finance, which operates in various parts of Tirupur, has provided loans to various SHGs.

In the current circumstances, the central government has instructed not to insist on EMIs for six months. The women today engaged in an agitation in front of the district collector's office by posing to hang themselves, claiming that the microfinance company is asking for repayment of loan dues from the self-help group and abusing them in case of non-payment.
The police held negotiations with them and took them to the District Collector to submit a petition.
