The Federation of Coimbatore Industrial Associations (FOCIA) has petitioned the District Collector insisting on not to collect payments for EB bills for the next three months and not to disconnect electricity for those who have not made the electricity bill payments.
Coimbatore: The Federation of Coimbatore Industrial Associations (FOCIA) has petitioned the District Collector insisting on not to collect payments for EB bills for the next three months and not to disconnect electricity for those who have not made the electricity bill payments.
The FOCIA members met the District Collector today and requested that electricity charges must not be collected for the next three months and power supply for those industries that did not make the payments should not be disconnected.
Speaking about the petition James, the President of TACT said, "We met the Minister for Electricity on June 6 and requested for concession on electricity charges for industrial enterprises and cancellation of power charges for the next three months. We also met with Minister S.P. Velumani and placed the same request. Both of them assured that they would consult with the CM and provide a good solution to the issue. However, the EB has now issued a notice that June 15 is the deadline for the payment of EB bills."
"When the industries are already paralyzed due to COVID-19, the payment of EB bills cannot be done promptly on the given date. We need more time to make the payment. Until a clear decision is taken power supply must not be discontinued. We have submitted a petition regarding this to the District Collector and the TNEB. At a time when industries are already affected, power disconnection will only worsen the situation further", he said.
