People venturing out without face masks fined in Valparai
Coimbatore: The Valparai Municipality has started imposing fines for people who venture out without wearing face masks. As part of the Coronavirus preventive campaign in Valparai, Coimbatore, the municipality of Valparai has been campaigning to raise public awareness to wear face masks and adhere to social distancing.
Most people, however, throw caution to wind and do not observe these norms. Today being Sunday, there was overcrowding in the town too. Therefore, upon the orders by Municipality Commissioner Pavanraj, Swachh Bharat Supervisor Raghupathi headed the team of Health Supervisor Rajendran, Sudhakar and Ilango to inspect various crowded places including New market, Old bus stand, Gandhi statue premises, etc. They imposed a fine of Rs. 100 fine and provided two face masks for all who were walking and driving without face masks.
Also, the shops that did not follow social distancing were penalized. As a result, most people in the city have started following the COVID-19 safety practices.
