COVID positive cases in TN surge to 44,661; 38 dead
Chennai: Chennai continues to top the COVID cases in Tamil Nadu, with 1415 positive cases, today. A total of 1974 cases from various districts in the State attributed to the phenomenal 44,661 cases in the State, on Sunday.
With 38 deaths on Sunday (16 Private 22 Govt), the overall death numbers rose to 435. Out of which 6 COVID patients of various age groups, passed away due to respiratory distress and associated conditions at both private and government hospitals.
Till June 13, 2,00,081 people have arrived to Tamil Nadu from various States/countries through air, road and rail. Of which, 2,106 were tested positive for COVID.
As per the State health bulletin, three cases have been reported today in Coimbatore, the total cases stands at 176 in Coimbatore. However, 15 people have been tested positive in the district, of which a majority are travellers from Chennai and one air passenger from Muscat.
The 32-year-old female from Tirupur who was admitted at the AMC ward in Coimbatore GH and was tested positive in Coimbatore is presently, being treated at the ESI hospital, here. With one new case, the total count of COVID cases in Tirupur district has increased to 116. No new case has been reported in the Nilgiris.
