Chennai: With COVID death numbers increasing everyday in Tamil Nadu, the state has recorded 1,989 cases, the highest single day spike starting from March. Today's positive cases has attributed for a big leap of the overall cases which stands at 42,687.
Chennai: With COVID deaths increasing day in and day out in Tamil Nadu, the state recorded 1,989 cases today, the highest single-day spike from March. Today's positives have caused the tally to leap to 42,687.
As usual, the state capital continues to top the charts with 1,487 positives on Saturday. The total in Chennai crossed the 30,000 mark, today.
According to the State health bulletin, 17,911 persons from various districts were subjected to PCR testing today and a total of 6,91,817 have undergone testing, till date. COVID-19 testing is done across 45 government and 34 private labs all over Tamil Nadu.
A private lab (Anderson Diagnostics and Labs, Chennai) has been approved for testing, today. Of the total test samples, 6,48,545 samples were negative. Testing of 585 samples are under process.
Out of the 30 people who succumbed to the novel Coronavirus today, 12 passed away at private hospitals and 18 at government hospitals.
The total death count has risen to 397 in TN. Alarmingly, patients as young as 27 years of age have succumbed to COVID. The demise of youngsters with no prior history of illnesses have left the people and the government worried.
The general public are advised to adhere to health and travel advisories issued by the state Government. With following the cough etiquette by covering the face using a handkerchief/towel while sneezing and/or coughing religiously, the public should also wash their hands frequently with soap and water.
