Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City East District DMK in charge and MLA N. Karthik requested the Corporation to provide a seamless supply of drinking water to all the areas within the Singanallur Constituency by providing drinking water at least once in four days. He requested the Corporation administration for action in this regard.

Some of the places within the Singanallur constituency have been receiving water supply only once in 8 to 12 days and in some other places the frequency is once in 20 to 30 days. This has caused acute water shortage in the area that has never been witnessed so far. He bashed the administration say that this can be attributed to the fact that no infrastructure development has been done with regard to the drinking water supply scheme for the past nine years bythe Corporation.

He listed various areas in Coimbatore, especially the ones within the Singanallur constituency that are receiving water supply in an erratic manner.

Ward 37 Hope College, Thanneer Pandhal

Ward 38 Peelamedu

Ward 39 Peelamedu

Ward 40 Aavarampalayam

Ward 53 Siddhapudur

Ward 55 Pappanaickenpalayam, Pazhayur

Ward 56 Peelamedu Pudur, Anna Nagar

Ward 57 Masakalipalayam, Varadarajapuram, Lakshmipuram

Ward 58 Neelikonampalayam, Jothi Nagar

Ward 59 HIHS Colony, Ondipudur

Ward 60 Ondipudur

Ward 61 Nanda Nagar, Noyyal Nagar

Ward 62 Krishnapuram

Ward 63 Singanallu, Kallimadai

Ward 64 Uppilipalayam, Housing Unit

Ward 65 Sowripalayam

Ward 66 Udayampalayam

Ward 74 GM Nagar, Barathipuram, Kalaignar Nagar

Ward 75 Nanjundapuram, Saramedu

He said "People in these wards receive water supply once in 8 to or 12 days and in some cases once in 20 to 30 days. They have been left without drinking water for many days due to this irregular schedule of drinking water supply. The supply of drinking water is vital to the people and this is being carried out in a careless and indifferent manner by the Corporation Administration.

The Corporation Commissioner and East Zone Deputy Commissioner andAssistant Engineer (Drinking water) have been notified many times regarding the drinking water issue. They have met with authorities and submitted letters requesting regular water supply. However, no action has been taken regarding this."

He further added, "therefore, considering the welfare of the people, the Corporation administration must take immediate action and to provide the areas within the Singanallur constituency with drinking water once in four days."
