Minister inaugurates model road project in Race Course; project cost 40.67 or 40.70 Crore?
Coimbatore: Minister SP Velumani on Friday inaugurated the Race Course Model Road project at a cost estimation of Rs. 40.67 crores in Ward. 71 under the 'Smart City' scheme.
A slew of amenities such as children's recreation park, sports equipment, open theater, parking area, breakfast stalls, synthetic playground, gym, hi-tech toilets, locker rooms, purified drinking water, shades, Wi-Fi facilities, surveillance cameras, etc., are to be implemented under the scheme.

However, the two different banners installed at the Bhoomi Pooja place had two different estimated project cost for the Race Course Model Road which led to confusion. While the banner by the Corporation mentioned it as Rs. 40.70 crore the AIADMK banner had it mentioned as Rs. 40.67 crore. People opine the cost estimation for the Race Course Model Road should be clearly defined.

Later, in an interview with reporters, the Minister said that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is implementing various path-breaking developmental projects throughout Tamil Nadu. He said that construction work is being carried out at various places throughout Coimbatore and a contract has been sought for the Avinashi Road overpass.
Rubbishing the criticisms, the AIADMK government has been focussed on delivering welfare projects to the people. The Minister cited that relaying of roads and new bridges in the city are being constructed to ease traffic.

He said that COVID-19 is spreading rapidly in densely populated areas like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. He informed that as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, preventive measures are being taken in war footing.
Commenting on rapid COVID testing, the Minister for Municipal administration apprised that coronavirus testing is being done in all densely populated areas including Chennai and said the legislators and officers are implementing it in full force.
