Five people, including a 10-year-old girl tested positive for COVID; all Chennai returnees and contacts
Coimbatore: After air and road traffic resumed, Coimbatore has been witnessing new COVID cases everyday. In a shocking, yet another five cases who have travelled and have been in contact with Chennai travellers have been confirmed to have infected with COVID-19, on Thursday.
According to reports, two days back,three air passengers including a 10-year-old child from Chennai who landed in Coimbatore were tested for COVID at the airport. While the reports of the parents showed positive, the child was tested negative. Later, the parents were admitted to a private hospital, here.
Pateint 1: Today, the child who was subjected to re-testing, shockingly showed positive for COVID. The child has now been admitted to the same hospital along with the family.
Patient 2 & 3: Similarly, two women, aged 39 and 29, from Vadavalli, who were in contact with a passenger from Chennai, have been tested positive for COVID.
Patient 4: A 37-year-old lady from Olympus area near Ramanthapuram hree who was in contact with a passenger from Villupuram was tested positive.
Patient 5: A 32-year-old woman has been tested positive after she contracted infection from her husband, who arrived to Coimbatore from Chennai.
All four people have been admitted to ESI hospital for treatment
