Second Air India flight carrying stranded Indian citizens from Singapore to Coimbatore International airport arriving today evening
Coimbatore: Air India Express flight carrying more than 170 Indian citizens from Singapore is scheduled to land at Coimbatore International Airport this evening.
In order to bring back Indian citizens stranded in various foreign countries, the central government is operating 'Vande Bharath' special flights. One such Air India Express flight from Singapore is scheduled to land at Coimbatore international airport this evening around 7.
According to Airport sources, "Aviation ministry has announced five flights till 23rd June to bring back stranded Indian citizens from various destinations. There are chances that the number of flights may be increased too. Air India Express from Singapore is the second special flight to land at Coimbatore International airport."
“About 170 passengers have boarded Flight No IX 1687 arriving to Coimbatore, tonight. All the passenger's were subjected to testing before boarding the flight. However, after landing at Coimbatore international airport, all the requisite norms will be followed as per the guidelines provided by the government,” added the sources.
Passengers will be tested for COVID during arrival and send to passenger-paid quarantine facility or government facilities for 24 hours. After the test results turn negative, they will be advised home quarantine for a week. Positive patients will be sent to appropriate hospitals, said sources.
