The COVID-19 lockdown is now in the fifth phase. However, many Hindu outfits have been requesting for the reopening of temples and permission for devotees to visit the temples while maintaining the government issued guidelines.
As a part of these continuous protests, the Hindu Munnani cadres protested by doing 'thoppukaranam' in front of temples, a few days ago. Meanwhile, The Coimbatore Hindu Munnani cadres demanded reopening of temples in TN and permission for devotees to worship at these temples, standing one legged. This agitations took place in various places.
Agitators protested, led by the Hindu Munnani State Administrator Guna in front of the Siddhi Vinayagar temple near the Gandhipuram bus stand.
"Many states have granted permission for devotees to visit temples to worship. However the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, in spite of being very devout, have not granted permission for devotees to worship at temples. The permission to worship should be granted immediately or we will strengthen our protests", they warned.
