Minor girl abducted; offender booked under POCSO
Coimbatore: All-women police have arrested a youth under POCSO for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old schoolgirl in Karamadai.
The 17-year-old girl from Veppanapalli, Karamadai, was in a relationship with Karupusamy (20) a distant relative from Avinashi, Thamaraikulam area.
Under the circumstances, the 17-year-old student eloped with Karupusamy after he promised to marry her. The girl's parents then lodged a complaint against Karuppusamy at the Thudiyalur All Women Police Station.
A case was filed based on the complaint and investigation revealed that they were hiding in Erode. Subsequently, the police went there and brought them back to the Thudiyalur All Women Police Station.
Since the girl was a minor she was handed over to her parents and Karuppusamy was booked under POCSO for abducting a minor girl and imprisoned thereafter at the Coimbatore Central Jail..
