Coimbatore: The novel coronavirus death toll rose to 21 in Tamil Nadu, with 1695 positive cases reported, today. For the third consecutive day, the COVID cases in TN has crossed over 1500.
Coimbatore: The novel coronavirus death toll in Tamil Nadu today is 21 with a mammoth new high in single-day spikes.
With 1685 positives reported today, the number of COVID cases in TN has alarmingly crossed the 1500 mark for the third consecutive day and as many as 1,243 patients belong to Chennai, according to the data provided by the State health department. The total of COVID-19 positives in the state stands just shy of 35,000 at a whopping 34,914. The overall death toll has soared to 307, on Tuesday.
On the positive side, 18,325 patients have recovered from the virus infection in TN and 798 have been discharged today alone.
Meanwhile, with five new cases in Coimbatore, the positive tally surged to 166. The COVID-19 positive nursing student from CMCH has been added to the Erode list. The five positives from Coimbatore are a 35-year-old woman from Kanuvai, a 29-year-old man from Vadavalli, a 48-year-old man from Podanur, and the duo of a mother and her 4-year-old child from Peelamedu.
The number of patients presently treated at Coimbatore ESI hospital stands at 33 while 4 patients are receiving treatment at private hospitals in the city, according to a source from the Health Department.
No new cases have been reported in Tirupur and the Nilgiris.
