Three areas at Coimbatore GH shut down due to COVID-19 infections
Coimbatore: Over the last 3 days, 3 areas in Coimbatore GH have been closed due to subsequent coronavirus infections, to the shock and dismay of patients.
The ENT ward at the hospital downed its shutters today as a 49-year-old man from Podanur admitted for throat cancer surgery there turned positive.
All patients in the ENT ward have been transferred to another ward. Eleven people, including doctors, have been isolated and are being monitored at the Government Hospital in Coimbatore. The ENT ward has been shut down on the heels of the physiotherapy ward and nurses' hostel.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 infections have been on the rise in Coimbatore over the past few days. Five more have been diagnosed with the virus in Coimbatore today. The tally includes an 11-year-old boy and his 35-year-old mother, both of them travelling to Pollachi from Katpadi.
Another positive is a 35-year-old woman who was in contact with a traveller who flew in from Mumbai. A 27-year-old male from Vadavalli who came to Coimbatore by road from Mylapore, Chennai also has been declared positive.
