Communists protest in Valparai seeking various relief measures
Coimbatore: A demonstration on behalf of the Communist Party of India (CPI) was held in Valparai, Coimbatore district. Protesters from 52 different organisations demanded the central government to pay Rs. 7500 and the state government Rs. 5000 as relief fund.
The demand included that migrant workers must be repatriated to their hometowns at the state's own expense, false cases not be made against DMK and that the tea plantation workers who were laid off during the Coronavirus lockdown must be paid wages immediately.
The protestors also demanded that banks waive six months of interest on loans and in allocation of medical seats, TN government should assert the reservation rights of the State Government. Taluk secretary Mohan, Periyasamy, Manikam and many party cadres participated in the protest.
