Coimbatore: Entrance exams for the admission of students into class 6 had allegedly been conducted at the Coimbatore CSI Boys Higher Secondary school for the past two days. Each day, 10 to 15 students had been asked to come to the school for the tests.
The District Collector received a complaint regarding this with photo and video proofs. Following this, under the orders of the District Collector, the District Chief Educational Officer Usha and South Tahsildar Arulmurugan inspected the school.
They enquired Principal Mercy Matilda and also inspected the entire school campus.
Subsequently, they sealed the principal's room and the halls where entrance examinations had allegedly been conducted.
"The school has been asked for an explanation as to why they conducted the entrance exams and investigations will be undertaken regarding this issue. Action will be taken accordingly", said Chief Educational Officer Usha.
The school has, however, said that they had remained open only to issue hall tickets to the 10th standard students. Parents who saw the school open had assumed that admissions were going on and had brought their wards for admission. They further said that no entrance exam was conducted. Authorities are investigating.
