Coimbatore: A 19-year-old nursing student at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) has contracted COVID-19. She tested positive for the virus today.
The student, a native of Erode, had resumed duty at CMCH on June 5. Reports say, upon arrival, she was tested for COVID-19. As the result came out positive, she was taken to ESI hospital for treatment.
The first floor of the hostel where the student stayed has now been closed down for fumigation. And, the other students on the same floor have now been asked to stay in rooms, nearby.
Through contact tracing, it has been found that 40 students who were in touch with the trainee nurse have also been subjected for screening for the virus and will be quarantined.
