Tirupur: The residents of Unjapalayam village near Palladam in Tirupur have petitioned the Tirupur District Collector regarding poultry waste and housefly menaces prevalent in the area.
According to the petition filed, there are three private poultry farms functioning in the Unjapalayam area. The waste generated by the poultry farms attracts worms and houseflies to the area which is proving to be a menace to the public.
The public have contacted the farm management thrice so far, requesting them to do away with the generated poultry waste in a safe and hygienic manner.Despite their insistence, no action has been taken.
The residents of the village lament that the area has become a breeding ground for houseflies and worms due to the unsafe waste disposal. This has rendered the area prone to infections with the houseflies sitting on material consumed by children and the elderly. All these facts have been listed in the filed petition.
