COVID-19: Three new cases in Coimbatore; no cases in Tirupur and Nilgiris; 1515 cases in TN
Coimbatore: Three new COVID positive cases have been reported in Coimbatore district, on Sunday. The total positive cases in the district rose to 161. Of the three cases, one is a traveller from other State, while two others are from the city.
One patient is a Orthotic Technician working in Coimbatore Medical College hospital. After he was tested positive, the entire department has been closed down for fumigation. Those working in the department are subjected to COVID testing.
No new cases have been in Tirupur and the Nilgiris district. The total cases in the districts remains at 114 and 14, respectively.
The positive cases in Tamil Nadu has reached a all new high of 1515 cases, on a single. The total in Tamil Nadu stands at a whopping 31,667 as of June 7. Of the total cases reported today, 1156 cases are from Chennai.
With 18 deaths today, the total death count has reached 269. However, 604 patients were discharged today after succesful treatment. Of the 18 dead, 15 people are from Chennai and the remaining are from Vellore, Thiruvallur and Chengalpattu.
Overall 16,998 patients have so far discharged after treatment, according to the daily bulletin issued by the State health department.
