Woman killed in high-speed car accident
Coimbatore: A 50-year-old woman was killed in a road accident near Sungam here, on Friday.
Subbulakshmi (50), a resident of Kamaraj Nagar died on the spot after she was hit by a alleged over-speeding car driven by Santhosh (44) from Chetty Street, here.
According to reports, Santhosh was travelling in his Ford Eco four-wheeler at the Sungam Bypass Road, yesterday. He lost control of the car near Sulakkal Mariamman Koil near Sivaraj Nagar and banged on Subbulakshmi and killed her on the spot.
It is reported that Santhosh also hit Marimuthu (60) who was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Upon information, East Transport Police recovered Subbulakshmi's body and sent for autopsy. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Police are on the lookout for Santhosh who allegedly absconded after the accident.
