World Environment Day: Tirupur District Collector inaugurates planting of 2200 saplings
Tirupur: Tirupur District Collector inaugurated planting of 2200 sapling near Palladam on World Environment Day to promote afforestation.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Program in Karadivavi village near Palladam in Tirupur district, an afforestation project was inaugurated in the pond in front of Karadivavi Municipal Office with planting of 2200 saplings.
Tirupur district collector Vijaya Karthikeyan inaugurated the first tree planting program in the village of Karadivavi with 2200 saplings comprising Maramalli, Arappu, Mantharai and Red Wood to be raised through drip irrigation.
District Rural Development Program Director Ruben Shankar Raj, Panchayat Council Chairman Ranjita Bhagwati Krishnan and government officials were present at the event. The district collector asked the women involved in the work about the working conditions. He also advised people not to come out without a mask when working or going out.
