This Integrated Women's Center is expected to address issues related to women, such as sexual harassment, abuse and mental health issues.The center which has been functioning since October has already seen filing of 180 cases. The COVID-19 lockdown has been particularly difficult as 45 cases of domestic violence filed. The affected victims are offered counselling and legal advice.
Social Activist Ambika informed, "during the lockdown, people with mental health issues, destitute and aged people have been rescued and have been put up in two temporary camps. Food and shelter were provided to them and their health issues were taken care of. Some of those people have been sent back to their homes, homes for the aged and mental health centers."
Tirupur Government Medical College Hospital Dean Valli Sathyamoorthy, Hospital Superintendent Gopalakrishnan and other government officials participated in the event.
