Coimbatore: Health Minister C. Vijayabhaskar announced new package rates that will be applicable for treatment at private hospitals under the CM's Comprehensive Insurance plan.
The Chief Minister's Comprehensive Insurance plan will serve patients when they receive treatment at private hospitals as per the order of the Chief Minister. The announcement was made and the package rates were published by the Health Minister C. Vijayabhaskar.
The Health Minister informed, "a multifaceted approach for the prevention and the treatment of COVID-19 is being handledby the government under the leadership of the CM. Until now only Government hospitals have been providing treatment for the disease. Now the CM has ordered for treatment by private hospitals under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Insurance plan."
A package rate for the private hospitals that provide COVID-19 treatment has been decided by a committee led by the Health department Secretary. The committee has recommended a package rate along with some restrictions for the private hospitals that can be reimbursed under the scheme. The government analysed the recommendation thoroughly and has approved the package rate.
For hospitals that have been approved under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Insurance plan to offer treatment for COVID-19 the package rate per day is as follows.
General Ward- those with mild or no symptoms
A1 & A2 grade- Rs.5,000
A3 & A4 grade- Rs.5,000
ICU with all facilities
A1 & A2- Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000
A3 & A4- Rs.9,000 to Rs.13,5000
Restrictions:
1. 25 % of all the total beds at the approved hospital must be allotted for COVID-19 patients who come to the hospital for treatment.
2. Patients who avail treatment under the CM's Comprehensive Insurance plan will not have to make any kind of payment to the hospital.
3. Approval of hospitals under the CM's Comprehensive Insurance plan will be cancelled if they demand more than the stipulated amount.

The government and private hospitals will work in a coordinated manner. This new announcement is applicable to all the families already registered and eligible under the CM's Comprehensive Insurance plan. This measure announced by the CM will strengthen the COVID-19 treatment methods being undertaken already.
