34th Shramik train leaves Coimbatore for UP with 410 passengers

Coimbatore: The 34th Shramik train from Coimbatore left for UP with 390 migrant workers and 20 children.



With the concerted efforts of the district administration and railways, more than 47,000 migrant workers from Coimbatore district have been ferried to their respective home states through 34 Shramik trains.

Earlier, the batch of migrant workers scheduled to leave for Uttar Pradesh assembled at a private wedding hall near the railway station. They were provided with food and water and later transported to the station at 12 PM. Just ahead of boarding, the travellers were thermal screened.

Till date, more than 3,800 Shramik trains have been operated across the nation and 57 lakh migrant workers have been ferried to their respective home states.

Coimbatore Railway Station Director P. Sathesh Saravanan, DRO Ramadurai Murugan, Tahsildar (South) S. Arulmurugan, Deputy Tahsildar (South) Selvam, Revenue Inspector Coimbatore Town P. Kathiresan, Revenue Inspector Singanallur Rajendran, VAO Nagrajan, Deputy Tahsildar (North) Manivel, Head Surveyor, Chandresakeran, other government and police officials were present.
