Wife fakes the death of her husband as an accidental fall in Coimbatore; killer imprisoned.
Coimbatore: Sakthivel (47), a daily wage labourer from Seerapalayam near Madukkarai was admitted with heavy head injuries on May 30. Failing treatment, he passed away on May 31.
The police registered a case and began an inquest. Sakthivel's grievous head injuries and his relatives' hasty and furtive attempt to bury his body raised suspiciond based on which the Police intensified their investigations.
Sakthivel's wife Maragatham, who was initially maintaining that he died due to fall-related injuries later admitted the real reason behind her husband's death.
Suresh (46), Maragatham's cousin, lives in a house nearby. On May 30, an inebriated Suresh entered into a quarrel with Vadivelu, one of his relatives living in the vicinity.
When the verbal altercation turned physical, Sakthivel tried to break the fight. An enraged Suresh picked an iron pipe nearby and hit Sakthivel on the head who later succumbed to the injuries. Sakthivel's wife and relatives tried to fake this death as accident and bury him.
After unearthing the truth behind the death, Police registered a murder case on Suresh and imprisoned him. The cops also have booked Maragatham who tried to fake her husband's murder as an accident in order to save her cousin.
