74 migrant workers had written a petition to Coimbatore District Collector Yesterday that they were stranded near Annur and sought his help to go back home. In the petition the workers had mentioned that they were working in Sri Vasudeva weaving mills private limited in Annur. The company made them work during the lockdown period and did not pay wages too. The workers had registered for travelling back home through Shramik trains . But they didn't receive any intimation and today morning the company had suddenly asked them to leave. Left clueless , all 74 workers had pooled in money and arranged a bus . When they tried for e pass to travel back , officials from collector office intervened and spoke to the company. Initially the company promised the workers that they would provide two buses and send them back . But later it turned out that they have demanded 2 lakhs money from the workers Which they could not manage. The workers were again brought back to the company . The officials have asked them to remain in the company till there is a confirmation on the Shramik train service that would take them to Jharkhand. The workers are ready to go back but the workers state that the company did not pay them wages for all the working days. Some were paid 2000, some received 5000 and so on . The workers are waiting for help from the district administration to get back home.
