A meeting was held at Coimbatore District Collectorate regarding non-payment of salary to the employees of the NTC for the month of May
The meeting was attended by the District Collector K. Rajamani, NTC officials, and trade Union members. MP P.R. Natarajan who was part of the meeting spoke to the press regarding this meeting.
He informed, "the remuneration issue of the National Textile Corporation employees was discussed at the meeting today. The NTC had informed that the workers would receive full pay until May 17 and half the pay until June 7. However, it has been insisted that employees be paid the entire salary as lockdown was the decision of the government."
He further spoke about hotel employees in the district and informed, "they have not been paid salaries for the past two months. Hence we have requested the District Administration to intervene in the matter and get the hotels to pay the employees their salary for two months."
The MP also said, "more care and attention must be paid when sending migrant workers off to their home states. Electricity readings for homes are not being done accurately and action must be taken to correct it."
Talking about the recent losses farmers incurred due to the heavy winds, he noted, "farmers who have been affected due to the heavy winds must be provided monetary compensation."
He condemned the arrest of the DMK MLA N. Karthik for questioning the failure of uploading Corporation resolutions online. The MP said the arrest was not the right thing to do. He also insisted that the cases filed against the DMK members must be revoked immediately.
MP P.R. Natarajan insisted that the free electricity being provided to farmers should not be cancelled at any cost and the TN Government must be firm about this.
Finally, he emphasized on the need to conduct more COVID-19 tests for the people in the district.
