Under the orders of the District Police Superintendent, vehicles arriving into Nilgiris from Kerala and Karnataka are put through rigorous checks before being permitted into the district.
While checks were being undertaken today at the Kakkanalla check post within the Masinagudi police limits, a vehicle from Karnataka was also inspected. The police team consisting of Special Sub Inspector Belli, Chief constables Selvakumar and Subburaj were involved in the checks when vehicle from Karnataka was found to contain Rs.51 lakhs without proper documentation.

Following this, the SP was informed who ordered that the money be handed over to the Gudalur Divisional Officer. Investigations are on with Sachin Mahadith, who travelled with the cash.
