The Nilgiris: The Wellington police have filed cases against the Wellington Cantonment Board Vice President and five others for violating the lockdown norms. All of them had conducted a black flag protest when the Coonoor MLA Shanthi Ramu came for relief supply distribution.

On May 28, MLA Shanthi Ramu had visited the Babu village under the Wellington Cantonment Administration to provide relief supplies to the needy people in the area. However, his car was blocked by his own party cadres including the Cantonment Board Vice President Bharathiar, Counsellors Durairaj, Srinivasan, Mary Sheeba, Latha and Lawyer Dinesh. They alleged that the relief supply distribution was rife with discrimination. This incident of an AIADMK MLA black flagged by his own party members had raised eyebrows in the area.

Following this, Mohan of the Kara Korai area filed a complaint against the people who conducted the protest. The complaint against the six people stated that they had violated the norms of the lockdown by crowding in an area.

Hence a case has been filed against the six people who conducted the protest by the Wellington Police Inspector Anandan and Sub Inspector Ravindran and investigations are on.
