Gang defrauding migrant workers busted in Tirupur

Three culprits involved in defrauding migrant workers by taking money from them under the pretext of providing tokens for the Shramik trains were arrested.

More than two lakh migrant workers are employed in Tirupur and due to the lockdown, they have been stuck at Tirupur.Following this the workers were asked to register online in order totravel back to their home states. Now that the lockdown has been eased, the workers are being taken back to their home states through special Shramik trains with no fare charged.

Using the operation of Sharmik trains as an opportunity for moneymaking, a gang of three from Anupparpalayam, defrauded Tirupur workers by collecting money from them against the promise of getting them tokens for the special trains.

Getting wind of this nefarious scheme, Anupparpalayam police began an inquest and identified Rajesh, Rajkumar and Manishkumar as the miscreants. Following this the tricky trio were arrested and Rs.15,000 cash was retrieved from them.
