The 33rd Shramik train from Coimbatore ferries 1600 migrant workers to West Bengal today

With the concerted efforts of the district administration and railways, over 46,000 migrant workers from Coimbatore district have been ferried to their respective home states through 32 Shramik trains. This evening, another train left for Bihar with 1600 migrant workers and 60 children.

Earlier, the workers were assembled at a private wedding hall.



They were provided with food and water and later transported to the railway station around 4 p.m.. Ahead of boarding, they were thermal scanned with the requisite social distancing norms being maintained.

It may be noted that more than 3700 Shramik trains have been operated so far across the nation ferrying nearly 50 lakh lakh migrant workers to their respective states.

Coimbatore Railway Station Director P. Sathesh Saravanan, DRO Ramadurai Murugan, Tahsildar (South) S.Arulmurugan, Deputy Tahsildar (South) Selvam, Revenue Inspector (Coimbatore Town) P. Kathiresan, Revenue Inspector (Singanallur0 Rajendran, VAO Nagrajan, Deputy Tahsildar (North) Manivel, Head Surveyor Chandresakeran, and other government and police officials were present.
