Unidentified miscreants throw raw meat in front of temples in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Unidentified miscreants threw meat in front of two temples in Sullivan Street today. The Venugopala Swami Temple and the Raghavendra Temple are located in Sullivan Road, Coimbatore.
This morning, some unidentified men threw raw pork in front of the temples.
Shocked at seeing meat in front of the temples, people living in the vicinity alerted the Variety Hall Police Department.
A few Hindutva groups rushed to the spot and demanded action against the miscreants. Following this, 50 cops were deployed in front of the temple for security purposes. Balaji Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, who arrived at the scene, conducted an inquiry.
Police are also investigating CCTV footage from the vicinity.
Subsequently, the temple entrances were disinfected and sprinkled with turmeric. Variety Hall police are conducting an inquest to nab the unidentified miscreants. The incident caused a stir in the area.
